What We are Leaving in 2024 and Embracing in 2025 at Boomerang Collective Co.

As we get ready to say goodbye to 2024 and step into 2025, I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting—not just about Boomerang Collective Co., but about myself too. This past year has been full of lessons, growth, and, let’s be honest, some hurdles along the way. So, as we move forward, I want to share what we’re leaving behind, what we’re taking with us, and what we’re planning to create in 2025…and I am SO excited about all of it: the good, the bad, the ugly, and the purposeful.

What We’re Leaving in 2024

  1. Self-Doubt: If I’m being real, self-doubt has been a quiet companion more times than I’d like to admit. It shows up when I’m about to make a bold move or try something new, whispering, “Are you sure you can do this?” This year, I’ve worked hard to quiet that voice, reminding myself of everything we’ve accomplished and the incredible trust our clients place in us. So, self-doubt? You’re staying in 2024, and I’m manifesting “You can do anything you put your mind to” for 2025.
  2. What Isn’t Working: This one’s tough because letting go is never easy. But whether it’s a strategy, a tool, or even an old habit, if it’s not helping us move forward, it’s gotta go. We’ve done some serious decluttering this year—professionally and personally—and it feels so freeing. I got rid of a few project management tools that weren’t working for our unique team, and then there was the learning curve of learning a new one, but we did it, and now we are vibing!
  3. Skipping Exercise: I told you I did personal self-reflection, too, okay? So, let’s keep it real. I’ve spent too many hours at my desk and not enough moving my body. And I’ve noticed it—in my energy, my creativity, and even my mood. So, one big thing I’m leaving behind in 2024 is the excuse that “I’ll get to it later.” Exercise is officially on the priority list and I honestly have no excuses: my husband got me a walking pad… so here goes nothing!

What We’re Taking into 2025

  1. Creativity: Creativity is everything at Boomerang Collective Co.. It’s what keeps our ideas fresh and our work exciting. In 2025, I want to lean into creativity even more—to push boundaries and come up with ideas that truly inspire our clients (and ourselves). It is one of the things I am most proud of and excited to fully dive into for 2025.
  2. Passion: Passion is what got us here in the first place. It’s the reason I started this business and the fuel that keeps me going, even on the tough days. In 2025, I’m holding onto that passion with both hands and letting it guide everything we do.
  3. Intuition I’ve learned this year to trust my gut. Sure, data and strategy are super important, but sometimes that little voice inside knows what’s best. In 2025, I’m giving myself permission to listen to my instincts more—to trust that inner knowing that’s guided us so well so far.

What We’re Building in 2025

So, one thing I have done each year for the last two years is choose a word that I want to fully embrace and harness throughout the upcoming year. Last year, my word was actually a phrase and that was to say YES more. It felt super insane at the time, but it ended up being what created Boomerang, what made me feel like a better wife and mom, and what made me feel super clear on things that brought me JOY and what didn’t make the cut (those were the “nos” just felt right). This coming year, my word is bravery—not just for Boomerang Collective Co. and for the small businesses we serve. Bravery in making bold decisions that fit with my morals and ethics, creating more time for the things that truly matter (that don’t include climbing a corporate ladder), and continuing to move the needle in the things that help my clients grow.

One of the things I’m most excited about is expanding the ways we support entrepreneurs. Here’s what’s on the horizon:

  1. Free Resources for Small Business Owners: We know that starting and growing a business can be overwhelming, especially when budgets are tight. That’s why one of our goals for 2025 is to create more free resources to help small business owners tackle common challenges. From guides on branding basics to tips for optimizing your website and Google Business profile, these resources will be designed to provide real value without any strings attached.
  2. Workshops for Business Growth: Another big focus for us next year is launching workshops. These are hands-on courses that dive into what you need to start seeing growth in your business. We’ll cover everything from identifying your ideal audience to creating a marketing plan that actually works. My goal is to make these workshops accessible, actionable, and packed with insights you can implement immediately.
  3. Branding Photos: We worked with Lily Davis Photographs to have a branding session done and let me tell you – she shared the proofs and they are everything my whimsical, free spirit had envisioned. Lily did an incredible job of bringing my vision to life. Once she finishes her magic, those will be visible throughout the website and will start to be incorporated in our new client documents, onboarding, resources, and social media. If you haven’t gotten a branding shoot, do it, and if you need a recommendation, go visit Lily Davis Photographs and schedule a session with her.
  4. Made-for-You Templates: Not everyone needs or wants a fully custom web design and not everyone wants to deal with people. Some people just need the tools to create something great on their own timeline. That’s why we’re introducing made-for-you templates in 2025. These templates will be tailored to different industries and designed to make the DIY process as smooth as possible. They’ll help small business owners build beautiful, functional websites that fit their vision without breaking the bank and give you the means to do it. Even with them, we are always available for consulting and if you get stuck, well, we’ll just take it from there.

Looking Ahead

2025 feels so full of possibility. I’m so excited for what’s ahead—for new projects, new ideas, and new ways to help small businesses thrive. I’m also incredibly grateful to everyone who’s been part of our journey so far. Your trust and support mean the world to me, my team, and my family.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that growth doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens when we lean on each other, share ideas, collaborate, and work toward something bigger than ourselves. That’s what Boomerang Collective Co. is all about—building a community where small businesses can thrive together…with heartfelt purpose.

So here’s to a new year where we leave behind what no longer serves us and fully embrace what lights us up from the inside out. I’m ready for 2025. Are you?

With kindness,

S
